Chandigarh, September 3

Going ahead with its plan to introduce user-centric services, the UT Excise and Taxation Department has started the facility of issuing ‘C’ forms online.

Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner Kashish Mittal said the facility would enable traders to apply for and get ‘C’ forms online without making rounds of the Excise and Taxation Office.

‘C’ forms are required for inter-state sale of goods.

Annually, the department issues 2 lakh forms that include ‘C’, ‘H’, ‘I’, ‘F’ and ‘F’. “The next step would be introducing e-payment,” said ETO Munish Nayyar.

As part of e-taxation, the department is putting online the details of all forms issued by it for various types of inter-state transactions. This would check bogus forms submitted by traders during the inter-state sale of goods.

There are over 17,000 traders registered in the city.

Besides, the department has come up with e-registration for taxpayer identification number (TIN) under the Value Added Tax and Central Sales Tax Act. It is a part of the Commercial Tax-Mission Mode Project under the aegis of the Central Government for the efficient delivery of services to the business community.

The department also launched various e-governance initiatives such as e-refunds, e-grievances on the dedicated departmental website, etdut.gov.in.
