DGP MA Ganpathy urged policemen to strive round the clock to check crimes in the state. He said intense night patrolling would help check burglary cases. The DGP expressed these views at a function to launch Uttarakhand Police’s ‘mobile application’ for Kumaon division at the Police Headquarters here today.

He said efforts were on to provide best amenities to policemen at police stations and police posts. Ganpathy instructed them to take effective steps for better understanding between the police and residents.

He instructed officials to hold seminars to sensitise masses about the importance of downloading the app.

While giving a presentation on the mobile application, Garhwal IG Sanjay Gunjyal said android phone users could download it from Google playstore and get in touch with their nearest police stations.

He said residents could upload photographs or videos of crime spots through the application. Besides, corruption cases can also be reported and the identity of complainants would be kept confidential. The application has been downloaded by 17,406 users since Chief Minister Harish Rawat launched it for the Garhwal division on October 31, 2015.

ADG (law and order) AK Raturi, IG (law and order) Deepam Seth, IG (HQ) GS Martolia, Kumaon DIG PS Selal and other officials were present at the function.
