Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia arrived at Patanjali Yogpeeth here on a day visit today to meet Swami Ramdev and Acharaya Balkrishan.

In a low-key visit, Sisodia refrained from commenting on political issues, particularly on Ramdev closeness with the BJP. Sisodia was here to seek cooperation and assistance of Patanjali Yogpeeth in training physical education teachers in yoga in government-run schools as part of the Delhi government’s plan to make yoga along with sports mandatory in near future.

He praised Ramdev saying that the yoga guru had changed the health scenario and left a mark on the corporate world with his expertise of yoga and ayurveda and contribution to social causes. He requested Ramdev for cooperation from Patanjali Yogpeeth in training teachers of Delhi government schools in yoga.

Ramdev assured Sisodia of all cooperation as he was offering yoga training at Haryana government schools and to Border Security Force personnel. “We want to make teachers and students yoga perfect and this will change the health scenario in Delhi. Yoga is an ancient Indian practice, which Ramdev has redefined. Its an honour to be here and have assistance from the yoga guru in making Delhi and our country a better place to live in,” said Sisodia, who also met a select group Aam Aadmi Party workers.

Ramdev praised the Delhi government for its initiative of teaching yoga in government schools. He said  lakhs of students enrolled in Delhi schools would benefit from this initiative and Patanjali Yogpeeth would commit the maximum number of yoga teachers and training sessions.

Asked about his nearness to AAP after reported differences with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ramdev said Modi was doing a good job and so was Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy  Manish Sisodia.

“We are saints and hence we welcome anyone coming to us for a good cause. We don’t consider political affiliations or religion, sect or community angle. For good causes, saints welcome everyone with full heart and blessings,” said Ramdev.
