Suicide bid victim dies

Chandigarh: Gurpreet Kaur (35), who attempted suicide by setting herself on fire in front of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s official residence on December 12 last year, died here this afternoon.

Gurpreet Kaur (35), who attempted suicide by setting herself on fire in front of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s official residence on December 12 last year, died here this afternoon.

Sources in the local Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, where she was admitted, said that she was admitted with 40 per cent burns. A highly placed official of the hospital said in her post-mortem report,  it was found that she had died due to septicemia. This is a form of  infection acquired due to prolonged hospitalisation. 

Govt insensitive: Bajwa

State Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa said it was unfortunate that people had to commit suicide after having failed to move the state’s rulers. He alleged the Badal government  had become immune to the problems of people.
