Chandigarh, September 3

Private weapon holders in Punjab have been directed to submit details by September 15 failing which their arms license would be deemed cancelled.

"All arms license holders should submit their personal details and details of the weapons at Suwidha Centres by September 15 so that the details can be entered in the National Database of Arms License (NDAL)," an official spokesman said here today.

Once the details are entered in the NDAL, a Unique Identification Number (UID) would be generated for the license holder, he said.

"If any license holder fails to submit his details by September 15, his UID would not be generated as the last date is October 1, hence his arms license should be deemed as cancelled after that," he added.

He said that for the benefit of the arms license holders, a special drive has been started so that all details regarding license holders and weapons can be gathered, he said.

At present there are around four lakh private weapon holders in Punjab. —PTI
