Woman, lover consume celphos to end life in Indri

A man and a woman committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance in a field at Dabkoli Khurd village in Indri segment this morning.

Their bodies were found near a tubewell of the field; celphos tablets were also recovered from the crime scene, Indri SHO Balbir Singh said. The deceased have been identified as Sanjay of Kandela village and Babli of Nidan village, both in Jind district.

Babli was reported missing from her native village Buladi in Sangrur, Punjab, on May 19. Her family members lodged a missing persons complaint with the Punjab police, the SHO added.

He further said she had a five-year old child and was in an illicit affair with Sanjay. “We received information today morning that the bodies of a man and a woman were lying near a tubewell in a field of Dabkoli Khurd village. We reached the spot along with forensic experts, and after going through circumstantial evidence, it came to light that the duo committed suicide,” he said.

The SHO said, “We recovered a mobile phone and Sanjay’s motorcycle from the crime scene and informed his family members.” As per preliminary investigation, Sanjay was a milkman and got in touch with Babli while distributing milk. “Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide, but things will be clear only after we receive the post-mortem report,” said SP Abhishek Garg.

A case has been registered under Section 174 of the CrPC, and the bodies were handed over to the victims’ kin.
