KARNAL: Three women were killed and three persons injured after a wall collapsed due to heavy rain in Kutail village of the district last evening.

Karnal, May 22

Three women were killed and three persons injured after a wall collapsed due to heavy rain in Kutail village of the district last evening.

The deceased, all in the age group of 45-50 years, have been identified as Veena, Darshna and Darshi. The injured include Gyanti, Ramphal and Deepak of Kutail Gamdi village.

Gourav Punia, SHO, Madhuban, said the victims had taken shelter from heavy rain behind a wall when it collapsed. Three women were declared dead at hospital. Of the injured, two have been discharged and another is under treatment at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH).

Sandeep Kumar, sarpanch of the village, demanded the state government should provide adequate compensation to next of the kin of the deceased.
