The police have registered a case against unknown persons regarding the shooting of a 50-year-old woman in Krishna Nagar in the Tehsil Camp area on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Rajrani, wife of Mulakh Raj, of Krishna Nagar. The police handed over the body to the victim’s kin after postmortem on Sunday.

Aarti, daughter of Rajrani, in her complaint to the police, said, “I, along with my children, was living with my mother at my parental house for the past 12 years. My mother was sleeping in the main hall near the gate, while I was sleeping in my room and my younger brother Sanjeev and sister Gudia were sleeping in another room on Saturday night.”

Some person rang the bell of our main gate at around 10.30 pm and my mother opened the door. Meanwhile, sound of fire shots was heard. When I came out of my room, I saw my mother lying in a pool of blood near her cot, she said.

The family members immediately rushed the woman to the General Hospital, but doctors referred her to the PGIMS, Rohtak. However, the family took her to a private hospital where she died.

DSP (Crime) and his teams were investigating the matter.
