YAMUNANAGAR:The police have booked a BJP leader and his associates on the charge of criminal intimidation.

Yamunanagar, June 23

The police have booked a BJP leader and his associates on the charge of criminal intimidation.

On a complaint by Narinder Yadav, an employee of a mining contractor,  the police registered a case against BJP leader Rishipal Dholi, who is a member of the District Grievances Committee, and some other persons, under Sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (causing hurt) and 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement ) of the IPC at Jathlana police station on Friday.

Narinder Yadav had alleged that he was going towards Ghumthala village around 2 am on June 21 on his motorcycle when six or seven persons, including BJP leader Rishipal, kidnapped him, beat him, and locked him up in a room of a temple situated on the banks of the Yamuna. They also damaged his motorcycle.

The BJP leader had on June 21 told The Tribune  that he owned the contract of the Ghumthala ghat of the Yamuna from where people, animals and other things were ferried to the other side of the river on boats.

He alleged that illegal mining was going on in the Ghumthala ghat area when he went there on Wednesday night. When he saw the mafia using earth movers for illegal mining during the night, he informed the police.

“Before the police could reach there, I was chased by people involved in illegal mining with an intention to kill me. I had a narrow escape,” Rishpal said.

On my complaint the police had registered a case against unknown persons under Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (causing hurt) at Jathlana police station on Friday, he added. — TNS
