Get girls back to school, says Mewat admn

GURUGRAM: The district administration has decided to address the huge dropout rate among girl students with the initiative ‘back to school’, as only one out of 13 girls admitted to schools in Mewat makes it to Class XII.

Gurugram, July 19

The district administration has decided to address the huge dropout rate among girl students with the initiative ‘back to school’, as only one out of 13 girls admitted to schools in Mewat makes it to Class XII.

It has issued a vision document and announced that the 2017-18 academic session will be different. The administration, teachers and anganwari workers will work towards getting girls back to school and address issues like staff crunch and depleting academic standards.

“It is unfortunate the strength of Class XII students in the district is not more than 2,000. Only one of the 13 girls admitted to Class VIII makes it to Class XII. The vision document highlights our objectives, be it bringing girls back to school, getting more staff, rationalising staff or improving learning standards by introducing general knowledge and general awareness classes,” said DC Mani Ram Sharma.--TNS
