Jhajjar, December 10

Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda has asked the BJP government to apologise to people for the ‘delay’ in the metro train extension project from Mundka (Delhi) to Bahadurgarh (Jhajjar).

“The previous Congress government had initiated the project and former Union Minister for Urban Development Kamal Nath had laid its foundation stone in February, 2013. It was scheduled to be completed by March, 2016, but has been delayed due to the poor functioning of the BJP government,” said Deepender while talking to mediapersons after the test run of the metro train in Bahadurgarh here yesterday.

The MP said former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had got the project costing Rs 1,900 crore approved from the Union Cabinet on August 11, 2011. The Hooda government had decided to bear all expenses, even of the Delhi section of the project, to ensure its early completion,” he added.

“The BJP formed the government in the state in 2014 but it ignored the project. It could have been completed well in time had the government taken it up on priority. Hence the government should apologise to people for the delay in the project,” said Deepender, asking the government to ensure its early completion.

The MP said it were the Congress government that connected Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Gurugram and Bahadurgarh cities with the Delhi metro. “We cannot expect anything from the BJP government in a situation when it has even failed to complete projects approved by the previous Congress regime,” he added.
