Yamunanagar, August 14

Family members and relatives of a man whose body was found at his house in MT Karera village on Monday morning blocked the Yamunanagar-Gari Birbal road on Tuesday.

Placing the body on the road outside the village, they demanded arrest of those named by the deceased’s wife, a government job for her and compensation of Rs 50 lakh for his family.

The body of 32-year-old Mohinder Singh of MT Karera village was found in his house on Monday morning. After postmortem examination, the police handed over the body to his family.

His wife Roma alleged that he was killed by Labh Singh, Vikram and Ajay Kumar of the same village. She alleged that the trio had threatened her husband with dire consequences some time back.

Family members and relatives of the deceased blocked the Yamunanagar-Gari Birbal road around 7 pm on Monday, demanding that those named by the deceased’s wife be booked and arrested.

They lifted the blockade after getting an assurance from Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Rana that a case would be registered against those named.

A case was registered against Labh, Vikram and Ajay on the charge of murder and under the SC/ST Act on Monday night. The family members and relatives of the deceased blocked the road again on Tuesday.

“Mohinder is survived by his mother, wife and three children. The family has no breadwinner. Mohinder’s wife should be given a government job and compensation of Rs 50 lakh,” said Dalip Kandara, district president of the Haryana Valmiki Sabha.

Rana said they had assured the family of all possible help as per government policy. He said he would investigate the matter to find the reason behind Mohinder’s death.

A group met Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh, demanding that a thorough probe be conducted into the case before any action was taken against the accused. He assured them of justice.
