Karnal, July 19

The state government has approved additional budget for the completion of multi-purpose hall (auditorium) at Government PG College, Sector-14.

The work of the project was stopped in 2016 due to fund crunch. Earlier, it was a project costing Rs 3.83 crore, but later, a demand for a budget of Rs 7.57 crore was sent to the higher authorities. Now, the government has increased the budget to Rs 6.88 crore for the completion of this project.

The work on this project was started in April 2013 with the aim to provide indoor recreational facility to the students. But it has witnessed several hurdles, including shortage of funds, in the past six years, leading to delay. It was to be completed by July 25, 2015.

Only the building of the auditorium has been constructed. The floor and wood work are yet to begin.

“Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, has given the administrative approval for the additional budget to complete the project,” said Rekha Sharma, Principal of the college.
