Karan Dev Kamboj, minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said all ration depots under the public distribution system (PDS) in Panchkula would be provided cashless facility on pilot basis.

The minister said this during a review meeting of the department here on Wednesday. He said the cashless facility would be implemented throughout the state later. For this, discussions were being held with Punjab National Bank.

Kamboj directed the officials concerned to ensure by January 26 that no person in the state is left without an LPG gas connection. For this, LPG gas connections would be provided to the remaining residents of the state under Ujjwala scheme of the Central Government and other ongoing schemes of the state government. As the PDS was for people belonging to poor families, any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated, Kamboj added.
