Gurugram, November 20

In a bid to mobilise its ongoing efforts against open defecation, NGO Sulabh International Social Service Organisation unveiled the “world’s biggest toilet pot model” in Marora village here.

The model — made of iron, fibre, wood and plaster of paris, measuring 20x10 feet — was unveiled by sanitation expert and Sulabh International founder Bindeshwar Pathak  in the village to mark the World Toilet Day on November 19.

In addition to the same, he also dedicated another 95 new household toilets to the residents of the village.

The model, which will be in village for next two days, will then be shifted to Delhi’s Sulabh Toilet Museum.

“Sulabh has been changing lives since years and the idea to unveil the model here was to give a new push to our ongoing campaign. Unfortunately for many, toilets are a small thing but the biggest change that affects the lives of people here,” Pathak said.

The quaint village of Mewat had hit the headlines when the organisation went ahead in not just adopting it but also renaming it as Trump village and dedicating it to the US President.

Though the name and banners declaring it were short-lived, Sulabh International has carried out the construction of toilets for every household and set up of a vocational training centre for girls
in the village.

Apart from inaugurating individual toilets, two books
on the use of toilets and sanitation were also released.
