Jind: A battle of prestige

Krishan Middha, BJP candidate

Krishan Middha, BJP candidate

‘Want to develop industrial hub’

What is the strength of your party and why people should vote for you?

To initiate development in the Jind Assembly segment will be the key issue to approach voters.

What is your agenda for the Jind byelection?

I assure voters of developing an industrial hub in Jind for employment generation.

Will the byelection results impact the forthcoming General and Assembly elections?

The byelection is a litmus test for the performance of the BJP government in the past four years. We are confident of succeeding.

How do you look at the Opposition parties and their influence on voters?

The Opposition parties do not have the confidence of voters of Jind and they are a divided force. People will vote for transparent governance.

Randeep Surjewala, Congress

‘To expose wrong policies of BJP’

What is the strength of your party and why people should vote for you?

The Congress alone is capable of giving a government with pro-people policies. The BJP's misrule and caste politics have caused chaos in the state.

What is your agenda for the Jind bypoll?

To expose the wrongdoings of the BJP government is the only priority in the byelection. Lack of development activities in Jind tells how the BJP has ignored Haryana.

Will the bypoll results impact the coming General and Assembly elections?

The byelection is crucial as the electoral mandate will show rejection of the BJP government policies.

How do you look at the Opposition parties and the influence on voters?

The BJP’s caste politics have damaged the social fabric whereas the INLD and the JJP leadership use the language of intimidation. They will be rejected electorally on January 28.

Umedh Singh Redhu, INLD

‘Poor infra, stray cattle key issues’

What is the strength of your party and why people should vote for you?

Our cadre and our ability to raise the issues of masses are our strengths.

What is your agenda for the Jind bypoll?

Infrastructure in Jind is pathetic. Stray cattle are a major nuisance and the authorities concerned have failed to address the issue.

Will the bypoll results impact the coming General and Assembly elections?

The bypoll will get the ball rolling for the forthcoming elections. We are confident of winning it.

How do you look at the Opposition parties and their influence on voters?

The Congress and the JJP have been unable to find capable leaders from Jind and thus have fielded outsiders. BJP’s Krishan Middha is a former party colleague, who switched loyalty for personal gains and voters will reject all three of them.

Digvijay Chautala, JJP

‘Will work to promote pro-people policies’

What is the strength of your party and why people should vote for you?

The JJP is the voice of the youth and the deprived and people have shown faith in our ideology.

What is your agenda for the Jind byelection?

Highlighting false promises made by the BJP and promoting the JJP ideology of pro-people politics will be our main agenda.

Will the byelection results impact the forthcoming General and Assembly elections?

The byelection will show the confidence shown by masses in our newly launched political front.

How do you look at the Opposition parties and their influence on voters?

There is no difference between the BJP and the Congress. People want a change in the political set-up and we promise a viable alternative.
