MEA to play facilitator for investors’ meet

SHIMLA: To attract global investors to the proposed global investors meet being held in Dharamsala in the month of November, the state government held a meeting with the Ambassadors of 50 nations in New Delhi yesterday.

To attract global investors to the proposed global investors meet being held in Dharamsala in the month of November, the state government held a meeting with the Ambassadors of 50 nations in New Delhi yesterday.

The Ambassadors were detailed about the possibilities of investment in various sectors in the state. The state government also urged them to motivate and coordinate in inviting entrepreneurs, investors and trade unions of their countries for investing in sectors of their choice in Himachal, a release issued here said.

Minister of State for External Affairs V Murlidharan, who was also present, termed the initiative as unique and exemplary and said that the Union Ministry of External Affairs would play the role of facilitator for this meet.

The Union minister said that India was on its way to become the fastest growing economy of the world.

V Murlidharan said policy-makers had been deliberating since long on improving the manufacturing sector and how India could be transformed into a global manufacturing hub.

The aim of this campaign is to make investment convenient, boost innovation, increase skill development, provide security to intellectual property rights and ensure best manufacturing infrastructure.

He said the proposed global investors meet would give a boost to tourism as people from all over the world would witness the rich culture and traditions of the state.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal offers better infrastructure and was investor-friendly. Peaceful environment and liberal policies of the state government to the global investors were further incentives for investors.

Industries Minister Bikram Singh said over 50,000 manufacturing units were working actively in the state and around five lakh people have been given employment.
