Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) did not exert any pressure on the government.

“All decisions are being taken on merit and in the interest of the people of the state”, said the Chief Minister.

He said the RSS was only a guiding force and its name was being unnecessarily dragged.

When asked about measures to tackle grim financial situation, the Chief Minister said he would take up the issue of resource mobilisation at the GST Council meeting on January 18. Efforts would be made to get maximum support from the Centre, he added.

The Chief Minister said the issue of recovery of arrears from neighbouring states had been discussed with the BBMB Chairman.

He said guidelines would be followed in the appointment of additional and deputy advocate generals and a committee would be formed to finalise the names.

“The Punjab and Haryana High Court has had made some observations in this regard. Since there are no such directions from the Himachal Pradesh High Court, we are following the guidelines”, he said.

He said appointment to the post of Advocate General had already been made.

“I am not in a hurry. I prefer to work silently and study pros and cons before making any comment”, he said.

On his winter sojourn to the merged areas, the Chief Minister said he might tour the areas for a brief period after Republic Day.
