Rising Star Army Pre-Primary School at Yol Cantonment on Wednesday celebrated Bal Van Mahotsav where 450 saplings were planted.

Lt Col Devender Anand, Defence spokesperson, said Y Geetha Mohan, zonal president, AWWA, inaugurated the Bal Van Mahotsav by planting a sapling and each child planted one sapling. She also motivated them to look after the plants. She appreciated the enthusiasm of the tiny tots and highlighted the importance of tree plantation.

Pradeep Bhardwaj, Divisional Forest Officer, also planted a sapling to mark the occasion. The schoolchildren put up a cultural show involving songs and skits highlighting the importance of tree plantation and environment.

In the end, Brigadier Gautam Paintal, chairman, and Supriya Kulkarni, principal, thanked the DFO for providing saplings of various types to the school.
