Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s loyalist Deepak Sharma has targeted senior Congress leaders and former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh over his remarks against the former and party workers.

Virbhdara had accused Sukhu of weakening the party during his regime as the HPCC president. He had termed the team of Sukhu as junk, saying it was not fit to win even panchayat elections, which irked the supporters of Sukhu.

Addressing the press conference here on Tuesday, Deepak Sharma, president, District Congress Committee, said the the former Chief Minister always promoted family politics.

“The remarks of Virbhadra against the party workers are unacceptable and we will file a complaint with Rahul Gandhi,” he added. He said the former Chief Minister was responsible for the debacle in the last elections. Lauding the term served by Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu as the HPCC chief, Deepak said Sukhu had strengthened the party at the grass-roots level.

Following this, Virbhadra’s loyalist Aakash Sharma resigned from his post. He flayed Deepak Sharma, saying it was a bid to weaken the party. Former Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur has termed the verbal spat between former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Sukhu unfortunate. — TNS
