Vice-chief’s post in Baddi MC goes to BJP

A day after winning two top posts of the Kunihar Block Development Committee, the BJP has got another shot in the arm as it managed to wrest the post of the Vice-Chairperson of the Baddi Municipal Committee (MC) from the Congress.

The BJP’s Sushma Kundlas was elected as the Vice-Chairperson of the Baddi MC in the elections held at Nalagarh on Tuesday.

The BJP has had never held the post of either the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman ever since the MC was constituted 18 years ago.

The Chairman’s post has been held by a family member of former Doon MLA Ramkumar Chawdhary since the beginning.

The post had fallen vacant after incumbent Vice-Chairperson Monika had resigned. Though the polls were slated to take place on Monday, none of the nine members turned up. The polls were held under the chairmanship of SDM, Nalagarh, Prashant Deshta.

The BJP managed to elevate its candidate Sushma Kundlas by seeking the support of a Congress- supported member Narender Deepa. The BJP has four members in the nine-member MC.
