Nurpur, May 19

A year after its inauguration, the state government is yet to shift the community health centre at Indora in the new building. Built at a cost of Rs 1.21 crore, the building was opened by Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur on May 15 last year.

The CHC, which is currently operating from an old building, also faces staff shortage.

The X-ray machine is lying idle because the post of radiographer (X-ray technician) is lying vacant. The posts of chief pharmacist and laboratory technician are also lying vacant.

While residents resent the state of affairs, sources said the building was inaugurated under the pressure from the Congress leaders even though its construction was incomplete.

Dr Kapil Sharma, Block Medical Officer, Indora, said the Health Department had recently deposited required payment to the HPSEBL for installation of an electricity transformer in the new CHC building. The CHC would be shifted after the transformer gets installed, he said.

Meanwhile, Sat Pal Katoch, chairman, block development committee, and Veena Devi, pradhan of the gram panchayat, have appealed to the CM to ensure that the CHC is shifted to the new building. They also demanded that the vacant posts be filled.
