330 Scouts, Guides felicitated

JAMMU: Governor Satya Pal Malik, patron of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, presented ‘Rajya Puraskars’ to 330 Scouts and Guides at a ceremony here on Wednesday.

Jammu, April 17

Governor Satya Pal Malik, patron of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, presented ‘Rajya Puraskars’ to 330 Scouts and Guides at a ceremony here on Wednesday. Four teachers who did advance training were also awarded certificates and badges.

Malik, Adviser Khurshid Ahmed Ganai and Principal Secretary to Governor Umang Narula were presented Scout scarves on the occasion.

Sarita Chouhan, Secretary, school education department; Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary, youth services and sports department; Saleem-ur Rehman, Director General, youth services and sports, were among the senior government functionaries present on the occasion. The Governor congratulated the recipients of the awards and wished them bright career ahead. He lauded the work being done by the functionaries of the J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides.

Highlighting the significance of the Scouts and Guides movement, the Governor said it was focused on inculcating a value-based education in children. He stressed involvement of students in such character-building activities was as essential as securing good results in the examinations. The Governor noted that a nation which gives due importance to character-building of its young generation stays stronger. He lauded the way Scouts and Guides were contributing towards community service.

Malik said it was the government’s responsibility to allocate adequate funds for supporting the maintenance and growth of the Scouts and Guides movement in the state.
