Articles 35A, 370 promote separatism, says BJP

Chief spokesman of the BJP Sunil Sethi on Tuesday said Articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution were “promoters of separatism” in the state and helping only anti-nationals and militants for the past seven decades.

“These are two knives stabbed in the body of the nation by the National Conference and Congress immediately after the Independence,” Sethi said in a handout. He emphasised on the need to abrogate both the Articles to eradicate the terrorism from the state.

Sethi welcomed the action being taken against the separatists, their family members and sympathisers. “In fact, had this been done earlier, the situation would have improved by now. Due to political patronage to separatists like Yasin Malik and others, the rule of law has been eroded for political gains,” he said, adding that he was surprised that the murder trial against Yasin Malik was not allowed for the past more than 28 years.
