Pak violates truce twice in Poonch

RAJOURI: The Pakistani army today violated the ceasefire agreement twice in Poonch district and targeted Indian forward posts with automatic weapons and mortars.

The Pakistani army today violated the ceasefire agreement twice in Poonch district and targeted Indian forward posts with automatic weapons and mortars.

The Indian troops retaliated the firing and no loss to life or property was reported till the firing of the report. Sources said at about 4.30 am, the Pakistan army resorted to firing with small and automatic weapons in the Digwar sub-sector in Poonch district.

“The firing was retaliated effectively and the exchange of fire continued till 7am,” the sources said.

They said at about 4 pm again, the Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked heavy mortar shelling and firing on Indian forward posts in the Khari Karmara sector in Poonch district. The Indian troops retaliated the firing.

After the killing of four Indian soldiers in the Keri sector in Rajouri district on December 23, it was the fourth truce violation by the Pakistan army.

Yesterday, the Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire agreement in the Baba Khori area in the Nowshera sub-division in Rajouri district. On December 24, they targeted Indian forward posts in the Bandichehiyan sub-sector in Poonch district and later in the evening resorted to mortar shelling in the Balakot sector of Mendhar tehsil.
