Jammu, June 18

The All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC organisation has alleged that employees belonging to reserved categories are being ‘targeted and harassed’ on the caste basis in Jammu and Kashmir.

The organisation alleged that weaker sections working in government departments, were facing discrimination in transfers, posting and promotions.

“No adequate representation is being provided to the reserved category officers in significant field postings, but the caste tag is being attached unnecessarily on the employees,” alleged RK Kalsota, state president of the organisation.

The organisation urged the government to take stringent action against those responsible for perpetuating the ignominious caste system in official communications for criminal misconduct.

Members have urged Governor Satya Pal Malik to look into the issue and direct officials to bring major changes in

its approach.
