The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) on Monday said it were not happy with the “much delayed” life sentence to Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

It also demanded that all others involved in the case should be awarded punishment, while seeking resignation of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

“It’s too little too late…we are not happy. The verdict has come after a long wait of 34 years. Many other people were involved in the riots, but they are still roaming free. Kamal Nath was among those involved and he should resign,” said APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina while reacting to the Delhi High Court verdict.

He said the BJP should not seek “mileage” out of the verdict and others involved in the case should be tried in a fast-track court.

“The verdict should not be used by the BJP to get political mileage…. Others involved should be tried in a fast track court because justice delayed is justice denied. Just one person (Sajjan Kumar) has been convicted so far and he can still approach the Supreme Court. As per the CBI inquiry, even the police was found involved...therefore all involved should be convicted,” said Raina.
