DC appoints 54 Special Executive Magistrates

Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Kapurthala, Mohammad Tayab, has appointed 54 Gazetted Officers as “Special Executive Magistrates” to maintain law and order during the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections, to be held on September 19.

The DC said elaborate security arrangements would be made by the district administration at all 661 polling stations, including 56 hypersensitive and 141 sensitive polling stations.

He said nine hypersensitive polling stations had been identified at Dhilwan,19 in Kapurthala, nine at Nadhala, seven in Phagwara and 12 at Sultanpur Lodhi. He said 25 sensitive polling stations had been identified at Dhilwan, 31 in Kapurthala, 18 at Nadhala, 36 in Phagwara, and 31 at Sultanpur Lodhi.

Satinder Singh, SSP, Kapurthala, said the police had evolved a foolproof mechanism for keeping a strict vigil at the sensitive and hypersensitive booths.

The DC said 11 Gazetted Officers would work as Special Executive Magistrates at Phagwara. Similarly, 15 officers would work as Special Executive Magistrates at Sultanpur Lodhi, 10 at Block Nadhala, 8 in Kapurthala and 10 at Dhilwan.
