Nawanshahr, July 14

The district administration has identified 15 sites for developing parks.

Divulging the details, ADC (Development) Davinder Singh said, “The idea behind developing parks is to provide a conducive environment as well as infrastructure for leading a healthy life. Lawns and walking tracks will be constructed in the parks. Besides, a variety of trees, flowers, benches and swings will also come up at the parks.”

District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO) Ajay Kumar said these parks would not only offer residents a healthy environment to spend their spare time but would also strength the social harmony.

Besides parks, a 12-km-long stretch of nature trail in the forest area of Ballowal Saunkhri and Bhaddi is being prepared.

Residents would cherish the natural views while walking through the nature trail, said the DDPO.

While two parks — Chak Bilga in Banga block and Mojowal Jhangerian in Saroya block — had been developed and the work on the remaining sites would start soon, said the DDPO.

He added that the work will be carried out under the MGNREGA scheme so that jobs can be given to labourers.
