PHAGWARA: A migrant labourer from Uttar Pardesh identified as Shankar was reportedly beaten to death by his own friends identified as Amar Kumar of Bihar and Dev Narain of Nepal near grain market in Bilga near Phillaur on Wednesday.



Phagwara: A migrant labourer from Uttar Pardesh identified as Shankar was reportedly beaten to death by his own friends identified as Amar Kumar of Bihar and Dev Narain of Nepal near grain market in Bilga near Phillaur on Wednesday. The accused reportedly murdered their friend under the influence of liquor after a minor quarrel, the police said. The killers managed to flee after murder. The police have registered a case and handed over the dead body to his widow after post-mortem examination. OC

No FIR even one month of burglary

Phagwara: The City Police could not register a case even after a month of burglary committed in the house of Joginder Kumar of the renowned JK dhabha in Tibbi locality last month. The victim said the burglars entered the house after breaking open the locks and decamped with gold chain, one laptop, cash worth Rs 30,000 and antique coins worth Rs 40,000. Though the victim had handed over a CD CCTV footage to the concerned SHO of the Industrial Area Police Post, no action has been taken till now. Ultimately the victim knocked the doors of ASP Sandeep Malik on Wdenesday who assured him of registering the FIR soon. OC
