Jalandhar, December 21

The fourth edition of the SPARK career guidance mela concluded after disseminating the message of hard work, dedication and integrity to more than 30,000 students, who participated in the mega event, for achieving success in varied fields.

Sushil Kumar Rinku MLA, Jalandhar (West), presided over the function. He said the initiative taken by the district administration would go a long way in shaping the destiny of students of Jalandhar.

This would give much-needed impetus to the career of the students, especially, from the rural background, he added.

Rinku said he was sure that the event would give a major push to students for choosing their right career.

The MLA said due to innocence, the students from the rural background chose wrong careers.

However, such efforts would really go a long way in grooming their career in the right direction, he added.

Varinder Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, asked students to formulate their time schedule to ensure optimum utilisation of time during their formative years.

Sharma also asked them to keep themselves updated on the current affairs, which would enhance their knowledge, besides widening their perspective.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the basic idea behind organising the event was to groom the future of students.

He said most of the students faced a major dilemma for selecting their career after matric. He said students were largely not aware of the field to choose in their lives, due to which, most of them get disarrayed.

The Deputy Commissioner said the event would also help in fructifying the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s effort of “ghar ghar naukri”.

On the occasion, the chief guest, along with the Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, personalities who had contributed in making the event a huge success were also present.

Subdivisional Magistrates Paramvir Singh, Amrit Singh, Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Rajiv Verma and Navneet Kaur Bal, Assistant Commissioners Dr Baljinder Singh Dhillon and Deepak Bhatia, Deputy Director Employment Generation Sanjeeda Beri, District Guidance Counsellor Surjeet Lal, District Education Officer Neelam Kumari, Deputy District Education Officer Gurpreet Kaur, Director RUDSET Jagdish Kumar, Lt. Col (Retd) Manmohan Singh, Assistant Director Youth Services Captain Inderjeet Singh Dhami, among others, were also present on the occasion.
