Tisca Chopra was recently asked to share her views on the ongoing #MeToo movement which started trending on social media platforms in the wake of multiple accusations of sexual harassment against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

However, Tisca Chopra’s response came in as a shock. The actress blamed women itself for being responsible of sexual assault. She said, “Being a woman, I would say that first of all, protect yourself. Don’t put yourself in that position.”

She further added, “Why do they not say “N-O” point blank? And why be alone with a person like that? Every human being is hardwired to protect themselves. Self-preservation is the biggest instinct human beings have, why do they lose that?”

This response of Tisca was unacceptable to many and people started trolling the actress on social media.

One of the tweets read, “This is the mentality that allows people in power to continue behaving however they please. Put some responsibility where it belongs.”

Another one says, “@tiscatime Get ur facts right ...this kind of victim blaming is why they didn’t come out earlier in such big numbers in the first place...” There are many celebrities in past who have spoken about the issue that women face, including casting couch in Bollywood. Tisca Chopra, however, feels that women only put themselves in that vulnerable position by becoming available to the perpetrator.
