A surprise checking of various government offices was carried out by officials on the orders of Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal on Friday.

According to Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Kanu Garg 27 employees of various departments were found absent during checking.

She said checking was conducted in government offices, including Divisional Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioners (I, II and III), District Public Relations Officer, District Welfare Officer, District Treasury Officer, Deputy Economical and Statistical Advisor, District Education Officers (Primary and Secondary), Election Officers and others.

“The administration is writing to departments concerned to take action against absentees. Such kind of irresponsible attitude will not be tolerated,” she added.

Such surprise checking would also be conducted in future to streamline the on-time attendance of government employees, she said.
