Two days have passed, but the police has failed to arrest the suspects involved in unsuccessful abduction of a girl from Bhikhi by two motorcyclists. The victim was injured in the attempt.

Though a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against two youths on statement of the victim, the investigating officer is yet to verify the sequence of events narrated by her as nobody has contacted police to contradict the allegations. However, the police is carrying out raids at suspected hideouts of the accused, identified as Vishav Jit Singh and Gurinder Singh, both residents of Ghudani Khurad village.

A 20-year-old Dalit girl of Bhikhi village, near Karamsar (Rara Sahib), had complained to the police that she was allegedly kidnapped from bus stand at Ghudani Kalan village, where she had dropped due to ill health during the return journey from Payal town on Sunday evening. She was returning home after attending classes for the beautician course at a centre in Payal.

The victim alleged that the suspects had been following her since she boarded the bus at Payal and forcibly took her to unknown place after she dropped at Ghudani Kalan bus stand due to her ill health. When the accused tried to molest her, she resisted their attempt. She was later beaten up and thrown at some distance from the unknown spot.

The victim was shifted to the Civil Hospital at Payal by passersby. A complaint was lodged at the Payal police station in this connection. The victim received injuries on her head and limbs.

Investigating officer Sat Pal said the allegations and sequence of events could not be ascertained yet as the suspects were still at large.

“Till now, we have heard version of the complaint and registered a case on the victim’s statement,” Sat Pal argued while maintaining that the sequence of events narrated by the complainant would be verified only after the accused gave their version.
