Book on Gurbani released in city

LUDHIANA: A book, titled “Gurbani vich mitihasak/itihasak hwale”, authored by Harbans Singh, a distinguished Punjabi writer, was released at a ceremony organised by the Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines, today.

A book, titled “Gurbani vich mitihasak/itihasak hwale”, authored by Harbans Singh, a distinguished Punjabi writer, was released at a ceremony organised by the Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines, today.

Gurpargat Singh Khalon, president, Auto Parts Manufacturing Association, was the chief guest. Dr SP Singh, former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev Universtiy, welcomed the author.

Balwinder Singh, former Professor, GHG College, Sudhar, appreciated the book and emphasised the importance of reading.

He said the book was for Gurbani lovers, as it beautified the alphabets in an easy language. Appreciating the content and author’s verbosity, he said the book should be widely distributed and made available at the libraries of Singh Sabhas in Melbourne and Thailand.

Joginder Singh, head, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, propounded his ideas on how the word ‘myth’ had been misinterpreted. He insisted on understanding the real meaning of myth in context of religion. While expressing his admiration for the book, he said the book was a must read for beginners who were interested in Gurbani reading.

Dr Manpreet Kaur, Professor of department of Hindi, Guru Nanak Girls College, said the author had beautifully explained the mythical characters.

Prof Gurdeep Singh said Gurbani helped to lead an enlightened life. The myths and allusions mentioned by the author enabled one to understand the real meaning of life.

Harbans Singh said he wrote the book to pioneer in making mythical allusions comprehensive to the readers. He said in the absence of a book like this, these myths could be misunderstood.

Gurpragat Singh Kahlon said the book would help to equip people with adequate knowledge of Gurbani.Gurmeet Singh Kular and Prof Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT congratulated the author for his stupendous effort.
