CME programme on epilepsy held for nurses

LUDHIANA: Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana, conducted a Continuing medical education (CME) programme for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) on college campus.

Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana, conducted a Continuing medical education (CME) programme for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) on college campus.

The programme provided a recent update to the participating delegates who had come from different parts of Ludhiana region.

Dr Rajiv Bhalla, Civil Surgeon, was also present on the occasion and addressed the audience. He said this training programme was the part of third level programme to sensitise the District Health Personnel to comprehensive epilepsy care .

On June 16 a similar programme was organised for the all medical officers .The 3rd CME will be organised on June 30 for accrediated social health activists (ASHAs) workers in DMC&H.

Secretary of the DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta, said these ongoing workshops were the part of the training component of grant by the The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in order to develop a model of care for epilepsy in India.

Principal Dr Sandeep Puri highlighted the importance of this programme “Epilepsy remains a disorder, but there are a number of myths and misconceptions surrounding as well. These myths are without any sound basis.”

Dr Gagandeep Singh Professor and Head, Department of Neurology, said the CME was attended by 122 ANMs. It was interactive and all delegates asked many questions, to the experts and discussed other issues also.

Dr Anurag Chaudhary , Professor and Head of Department Community Medicine, explained the details regarding project implementation to the ANMs.
