The Sadar police claimed to have solved a robbery case within three hours of the crime and arrested three suspects. They have been identified as Akash Khana, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar; Gulshan Kumar, also of Ambedkar Nagar; and Sunny of Phase 1, Dugri.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashwani Kapoor conducted a press conference on the case. He said an elderly man, Gulshan Rai, owner of Super Trading company, complained to the police that while he was heading towards HDFC Bank today to deposit Rs 2.36 lakh on his Activa scooter, two armed youths stopped him at Janta Enclave.

The youths attacked him with sharp weapons and snatched the bag containing cash. They also took away his scoote, said the DCP. A police team immediately reached the spot and started investigation. Within three hours of the crime, the youths were arrested by the Sadar police, he added.

The DCP revealed that the police recovered Rs 2.36 lakh, the Activa scooter, two sharp weapons and 24 cheques for Rs 8.85 lakh from the youths.

During investigation, it was found that Sunny worked as security guard at HDFC Bank, Phase I, Dugri, and he was aware about the victim who visited the bank frequently to deposit huge cash. — TNS
