Designer Rohit Verma, who has always surprised people with his creative and unique work, is now coming with a line of collections for men and women, inspired by the famous Maha Khumb Mela.

Verma will give traditional drapes a modern and structured outlook in the contemporary clothing, “Fashion has to address our time and our lives. I like the reality,” he said while on a visit to the city on Friday.

The collection will feature dresses with interesting drapes and folds, saris wrapped in unique styles, palazzo pants with dupatta-like wraps, kalidar kurtas, draped jersey skirts and jackets. There will be dhotis for men worn with jackets, kurtas and dupattas. The collection is in black, saffron, marigold, aubergine, orange, red and pink.

Giving more information on his Maha Khumb collections Rohit said, “People in India are very spiritual. If you closely observe women their look and ornaments they wear are largely inspired by goddess Parvati or Durga.”

“I want to replicate our very own culture through my collections. What better way than our ancient Maha Khumb Mela, which is being held from ages in our country. I want people to relate to my work. I am sure when my collection will be out people will love it and enjoy wearing it,” he added

“Orange and red have widely been used as these are considered spiritual colours. You will see Godly words like ‘Om’, ‘Hare Hare’ in my print designs. As the inspiration of my designs is based on Maha Kumbh so mostly it will depict godly signs and symbols,” he said.
