I-Day celebrated with fervour

Ludhiana: The Student Chapter of Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan campus, organised a talent hunt programme as part of Independence Day celebrations.



Ludhiana: The Student Chapter of Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan campus, organised a talent hunt programme as part of Independence Day celebrations. Students sang songs and held skits on Independence Day theme “Nai Soch, Nai Umang, New Azadi”. The new batch of students also enthusiastically took part in the event. 

Gobindgarh Public College 

Students of the Gobindgarh Public College, Alour, Khanna, celebrated Independence Day and Akshay Urja Diwas with great enthusiasm. On the occasion the college authorities formed “Buddy” groups to tackle drug nuisance and held a slogan writing, poster-making and declamation contest on “Tandrust Punjab” and “ Drug-free Punjab”.  College Principal Dr Neena Seth Pajni was the chief guest, and congratulated all students on the eve of Independence Day. She said we need to preserve natural resources and lead a drug free and healthy life. Prof Bharat Bhushan, Prof Sunil Dutt, Prof Surinder Singh, Prof Kareena, Prof Hanish, Prof Navneet Bhaskar were also present on the occasion. More than 100 students participated in the event.

Khalsa College for Women 

The Department of Political Science at the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, celebrated Independence Day with great fervour and patriotic zeal. Students recited poems to mark the event and participated in chart making contest. Principal Dr Mukti Gill encouraged students to promote unity and ideas of freedom fighters.

CT University

The CT University celebrated Independence Day to recall the spirit of patriotism and pay tributes to freedom fighters. The celebrations began with arrival of the chief guest, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-Chancellor, the CTU, Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Registrar, Dr Gurvinder Bakshi, Dean Academics and faculty members. The chief guest was escorted by cadets to the venue where he unfurled the national flag. The event was presided over by the University Chancellor, Charanjit Singh Channi. Students also performed bhangra on the occasion. 

Freshers organised 

The Department of Computer Science and Business Administration at the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a freshers party for new batch of students. The mesmerizing music, flash freezing lights and exuberant students were defining moments in the party. Students of Bachelor of Computer Applications highlighted repercussions of excessive use of mobile phones by youngsters through a skit. On the occasion, first year students left everyone awestruck with ramp modeling. In the Deptarment of Computer Science, Gundeep was adjudjed Miss Fresher whereas in the Department of Business Management, Jhanvi was adjudged Miss Fresher. — TNS
