Faces of stalwarts doing it for local leaders

To attract voters, candidates of various political parties contesting election for the Ludhiana parliamentary seat are using face of national and state political leaders on their posters, banners and other advertisement material.

Various parts of Ludhiana constituency are flooded with such political advertisements before the election to be held on May 19.

A slogan ‘Badal Modi Ke Baju Hai’ (Badal is working strength of Modi) has been mentioned on posters of SAD-BJP candidate Maheshinder Singh Grewal.

Photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi touching the feet of former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal are being used on posters of Grewal.

The photo of late former Chief Minister Beant Singh has been displayed on his grandson and Congress candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu’s posters and hoardings.

Besides, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s photos have been used on posters of the Congress candidate.

Lok Insaaf Party candidate Simarjit Singh Bains, who has been fielded by the Punjab Democratic Alliance, is using photos of national president of Bahujan Samaj Party Kumari Mayawati, Punjab Ekta Party leader Sukhpal Khaira, MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and some other leaders on his posters and banners.

The photo of his brother MLA Balwinder Singh Bains has also been prominently displayed on his posters.

Besides, flags with photo of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal are commonly seen during the campaign of AAP candidate from the Ludhiana seat, Dr Tejpal Singh Gill.

Besides, Gill is using Kejriwal and AAP Punjab president Bhagwant Mann’s photos for his campaign on social media.
