DBA elections: 28 candidates in the fray

A total of 2,577 voters would decide fate of 28 candidates in the District Bar Association (DBA) polls today.

A total of 2,577 voters would decide fate of 28 candidates in the District Bar Association (DBA) polls today.

Sales and Income Tax lawyers, who were debarred from casting their votes a few years ago, would also cast their votes, claim sources.

Around 900 young lawyers would play a pivotal role. Over 600 female advocates would also cast their votes.

Returning Officer Surinder Singh Khakh, Additional Returning Officers Lalita Jain and Darshan Sandhu said strict security arrangements have been made to conduct smooth and peaceful election.

Ashok Mittal, Sanjiv Malhotra, Bhalinder Singh Gill, Sunil Dutt and BP Singh Gill would compete for the post of president.

For the post vice president RK Maurya, Jatinder Kumar Arora, Yogesh Khanna, Rajinder Pal Singh Babbar and Amandeep Bhanot were in race. There would be triangular contest for the post of secretary between Sham Sunder Ahuja, Deep Inder Singh Gill and Charanjeet Singh Channa.
