Samrala zone girls emerge winners

LUDHIANA: Samrala Zone survived a scare against Kila Raipur Zone before emerging winners in the final of the District Schools Inter-Zone Football Tournament for Girls (U-14) which concluded at Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar here on Saturday.

Ludhiana, September 21

Samrala Zone survived a scare against Kila Raipur Zone before emerging winners in the final of the District Schools Inter-Zone Football Tournament for Girls (U-14) which concluded at Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar here on Saturday.

Arshdeep Kaur and Rabiya scored a piece each for the winning side while Riya Sharma reduced the margin for the losing side.

Earlier, in the semi finals, Kila Raipur Zone prevailed over Khanna Zone 2-1 in which Harpreet Kaur scored a brace for the winners and Sonam found the target for Khanna Zone whereas Samrala Zone scripted an identical win (2-1) over Rara Sahib Zone.

For Samrala Zone, Mahima Walia and Harpreet Kaur were the scorers while Amreenpreet Kaur chipped in with one goal for the losing side.

To decide the third position, Rara Sahib Zone overpowered Khanna Zone 4-3. Amreenpreet Kaur, Bipanjot Kaur, Simranjot Kaur and Gagandeep Kaur contributed one goal each for Rara Sahib Zone while Sonam, Parneet Kaur and Asho accounted for one goal each for Khanna Zone. — TNS
