Ludhiana: Students of Department of Political Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, brought laurels by bagging 1st five university positions in MA 3rd semester exams.



Ludhiana: Students of Department of Political Science, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, brought laurels by bagging 1st five university positions in MA 3rd semester exams. Komal secured 83.75 per cent marks, Poonam scored 83.25 per cent, Puja got 83 per cent, Manpreet and Priya scored 82.75 per cent each and Neha secured 81.5 per cent. Principal Dr Mukti Gill congratulated the students.

Farewell party held

SCD Government College’s Commerce Department bid adieu to outgoing students on Wednesday. Students showcased singing, dancing and modeling skills. Head of Department, Prof Paramjeet Singh welcomed the students. Principal Dr Dharam Singh applauded the efforts of the students and wished luck them luck in their future endeavours.

Lecture on women’s issues

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised an extension lecture on “Problems encountered by women after the age of 40 and other gynaecological problems”. Dr Zeenie Sarda Girn, gynaecologist, discussed problems faced by women. She emphasised on issues such as metabolism, protein deficiency, declining of bone strength, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer and other urinary problems. Dr Girn also briefed on breast cancer and importance on conducting mammography and PAP smear test for cervical cancer. Principal Dr Mukti Gill thanked Dr Girn for holding the session and discussing important issues.

50 bird nests installed

In order to provide a habitat for birds and reprieve from heat , 50 bird nest made of clay were hung around trees at campus of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, on Wednesday. Er Deepinder Singh, programme officer, NSS said that bird nests sponsored by the NGO Panchi Pirh and a faculty member Varinder Singh were hung at college. Principal Dr Sehijpal Singh appreciated the efforts of the NSS wing for coming up with a unique idea. Dr Arvind Dhingra, programme officer, NSS thanked the NGO and students for their efforts. TNS
