The Ludhiana police claimed to have arrested a woman on the charge of murdering her husband, her paramour who was also her former student, and another person in the case.

Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal addressed a press conference regarding the matter.

The arrested accused have been identified as Pushpinder Kaur (43), wife of deceased Harvinderpal Singh Sekhon, a resident of Central Town, also the owner of GPL Academy at Daad village, her paramour Jaspreet Singh Jass (26), and Jaspreet’s friend Rajesh Kumar Jindal alias Johny (30) of Shimlapuri.

Jass had been working as a ward boy at Lifeline Hospital while Rajesh runs a provisional store at Dhandra village.

Agrawal said the woman, along with her friend, had killed Harvinderpal Singh Sekhon on August 13, citing the cause of his death as heart attack.

She had hurriedly cremated the body without informing to Harvinder’s family. On October 4, the Sadar police registered a case of murder against the woman and the other accused on the complaint of deceased’s mother Naseeb Kaur, a resident of Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh.

The complainant had then alleged that her son was murdered by his wife as she had an extramarital affair with Jaspreet Singh.

“On August 13, Harvinderpal came home at 10 pm and went to sleep. The next morning, he was found dead. I got to know about the death of my son from the neighbours. By the time I reached here from Himachal, my daughter-in-law had already cremated Harvinderpal. When I checked my son’s phone, I saw messages, which cleared that my daughter-in-law had an extramarital affair and my son had come to know about it. I had then called the police, Pushpinder asked them to return, saying that she did not want any probe into the matter as her husband died a natural death,” the deceased’s mother said.

Agrawal said when she approached him with suspicion of murder, he formed a SIT led by DCP (Detective) SS Dhindsa, ADCP (Investigation) Harish Dayama, SI Avtar Singh of the Crime Branch.

According to the police, the accused woman, who runs an academy, had developed an extramarital affair with her student Jaspreet in 2016.

Her husband came to know about her affair and asked her to mend her ways, but she continued.

Considering him as a hurdle in her affair, she planned to kill her husband with the help her paramour and his associate.
