10 coaches of Ranikhet Express derail in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: As many as 10 coaches of the Ranikhet Express derailed at Hameera railway station, 7 kms from Jaisalmer, on Friday night.

As many as 10 coaches of the Ranikhet Express derailed at Hameera railway station, 7 kms from Jaisalmer, on Friday night.

The train derailed with 10 coaches between Thayat Hamira-Jaisalmer at 11.16 pm last night.

There were over 100 passengers in the 24 coaches. Tarun Jain from Railways North West said no casualties or major injuries were reported.

Three passenger trains were cancelled and 11 others were partially cancelled due to derailment.

Jaisalmer-Kathgodam train (15013), Jaisalmer-Jaipur Leelan Express train 12467 and 12468 were cancelled both ways till the track is restored.

The reason of derailment is yet to be known but prima facie it seems to have resulted from a fault in track. A probe has been ordered.
