A 60-year-old cattle owner was allegedly beaten to death while he was grazing buffaloes in Rajasthan’s Baran district on Wednesday afternoon.

Dhananlal Gurjar, who received multiple injuries, was first rushed to a government hospital in Baran which referred him to Kota district where he succumbed last night at 9.30 pm, Deputy SP Kalulal Verma told The Tribune.

The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.

As per the deceased’s son, the accused, Prakash Gurjar, first had an altercation with his father who was grazing the buffaloes in the open field and then he beat him up with a stick and ran away, the Deputy SP said.

The accused was demanding payment while Dhananlal Gurjar had complained of cows not giving milk which he had sold him, the cop said.

A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered against Prakash, who is at large.

Meanwhile, Special DGP Law and Order NRK Reddy said it was a murder case and had nothing to do with any “lynching” incident.
