Assam Cong suspends four MLAs

Guwahati: Assam Congress president Anjan Dutta today suspended four MLAs and issued show-cause notice to five others for "anti-party activities", said an APCC spokesman.

Assam Congress president Anjan Dutta today suspended four MLAs and issued show-cause notice to five others for "anti-party activities", said an APCC spokesman.

The four suspended Congress legislators are Jayanta Malla Barua, Pijush Hazarika, Pallab Lochan Das and Pradan Barua, said APCC spokesperson Apurba Bhattacharjee.

The five MLAs served show-cause notice are: Abu Taher Bepari, Kripanath Mallah, Rajen Borthakur, Binanda Kumar Saikia and Bolin Chetia, Bhattacharjee said.

The action was taken against the nine Congress MLAs for their anti-party activities of welcoming their former party colleague and ex-minister Himanta Sarma at the Guwahati airport. — PTI
