New Delhi, August 3

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has asked Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan to meet Geeta, a deaf and mute Indian woman, stuck in that country for more than a decade.

Responding to Pakistan’s human rights activist Ansar Burney’s tweet about the mute Indian woman who had strayed into Pakistan more than a decade ago, Sushma tweeted today: “I have asked Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan TCA Raghavan to go to Karachi with Mrs Raghavan and meet this girl.” Geeta was 7-8 years old when she was found by the Pakistan police in Lahore. — PTI
