Chandigarh, November 29

Sixty law graduates, mostly from rural and humble background, cleared the Punjab Civil Services (Judicial) exam, the results of which were declared late this evening by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The result is available on the High Court’s official website.

They will be inducted in the judiciary after undergoing extensive training at the Chandigarh Judicial Academy for a year. This is the first batch to have been recruited after 2015.

The process had come to a standstill following the allegations of HCS (Judicial) paper leak last year.

As the judicial officer, allegedly involved in the paper leak case, was also handling the PCS (Judicial branch) recruitment, the process of filling the vacancies was affected in both states.

The process this time was carried out under direct and strict supervisions of the recruitment committee of the high court.

Headed by Justice Rajan Gupta, the other members included the State Chief Secretary, the Advocate-General, the Additional Home Secretary and the Chairman of the Haryana Public Service Commission, along with high court judges.

Advocate-General Atul Nanda said the selection of candidates with humble background from economically weaker sections of society and rural areas indicated fairness in the selection process.
