Aam Aadmi Party workers today burnt effigies of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Speaker Rana KP Singh across the state in protest against the misbehaviour with the party’s women MLAs and tossing of turbans of Sikh legislators.

In Sunam, AAP workers gathered at Agarsain chowk and raised slogans against the Punjab Government.

“We will intensify our agitation in the coming days if the state government fails to remove the Speaker, who acted like a dictator,” alleged Hardeep Singh, a local AAP worker.

Ropar AAP leaders Ranjit Singh Patialan and Jarnail Singh Aulakh said, “The Congress is frustrated after its leaders were found involved in the land and mining scams.”

AAP workers led by Dr Charanjit Singh burnt the effigies of the Chief Minister and the Speaker at Chamkaur Sahib.

Party activists took out a protest march in Nihalsinghwala (Moga) and raised slogans against the CM and the Speaker. Nihalsinghwala MLA Manjit Singh Bilaspur was among those whose turbans were tossed in the Vidhan Sabha.

Party leader Ajay Sharma said yesterday's incident was a blot on democracy.
